SUMMARY:Interdisciplinary Perspectives on the Bioeconomy #2
DESCRIPTION:The Global Bioeconomy Alliance is pleased to host the second webinar in its series dedicated to fostering international dialogue and collaboration on sustainable and inclusive bioeconomy development. \nThe webinar will open with a welcome address by Cristina Chuck (Tecnológico de Monterrey)\, who will also provide an update on the upcoming Global Bioeconomy Alliance Conference. The session will then feature expert contributions from leading researchers working at the intersection of food systems\, agriculture\, and climate resilience. \nAs nations worldwide seek to build sustainable bioeconomies\, ensuring food security\, supporting rural livelihoods\, and strengthening resilience to climate change have become critical priorities. This webinar brings together perspectives from biotechnology\, agricultural economics\, and evolutionary systems biology to explore how research and innovation can contribute to more sustainable and resilient agricultural systems. \nParticipants will gain insights into the potential of single-cell protein production from agricultural by-products\, the socioeconomic impacts of agricultural systems and policies\, and the effects of climate change on crop performance and food production. Together\, these perspectives highlight the opportunities and challenges involved in transforming agriculture to support a sustainable bioeconomy. \n\n  \nThe webinar will take place on Monday\, July 27 at 13:00 CET  (find your local time here) \n  \nSpeakers and Topics\n\nProf. Mario Torres\, Tecnologico de Monterrey\nResearch Professor Food Security and Nutrition\nModel-Assisted FermentatioN Strategies for Agri-Waste Valorization\nProf. Anja Faße\, Technical University of Munich\nProfessor of Environmental and Development Economics\nEconomics of Small-scale Agriculture in Resource-scarce Contexts\nProf. Ivana Gudelj\, University of Exeter\nProfessor of Evolutionary Systems Biology\nClimate Change Impacts on Crops\n\n\nThrough these diverse perspectives\, the webinar aims to foster critical discussion on how bioeconomy strategies can support environmentally sustainable\, socially just\, and economically viable futures across different global contexts. \n  \n\nThe webinar is open to researchers\, policymakers\, practitioners\, and stakeholders interested in shaping the future of the global bioeconomy. \n  \nRegistration
